KEEP EMILIO
June 17, 2011
I maybe should of posted this earlier, but I wanted to share a project I started earlier in the month called “Keep Emilio“. A small and now very effective way I am raising money to become an American Citizen of the United States. The following paragraph should explain it more clearly.
I came to the United States from Mexico in 1989 with my family when I was four years old. I didn’t know much about what was happening, why we were moving nor do I even remember the trip over. Some of the bits I do remember were arriving to a hotel and seeing “Terminator” on the television and eating a hamburger late at night. How could I not fall in love with a place where that kind of night is the norm? As much as I enjoy being Mexican, there is a pretty big chunk of me that is Red, White, and Blue, HANK HILL American. To make my love for this place official, I have started the process of becoming a full blown American citizen.
I am not fancy enough to drop the amount it costs to start this process, so I decided to create “KEEP EMILIO” and design some fun, pretty America-inspired shirts to help offset the costs of the application and lawyer fees.
“Keep Emilio“, you say? It’s sort of like the Free Winona, Free Tibet, and more recently Free Revok campaigns that we have all ran into at some point. The difference is that I am have not been held captive, deported, or jailed, so I couldn’t legitimately make a ‘Free Emilio’ campaign. Keep Emilio is more of a “Hey we like Emilio! Let’s help keep him in America where we like him” campaign. So while you help me, I’ll help you look awesome this summer, 4th of July and pretty much any second in life you have one of these shirts on.
Thank you.
Order your shirt soon to be able to rock one of these on what ever you have planned this 4th of July. If the site does not answer enough for you, check out a small interview I did over at TCS click here to see that.
